COURAGE

“I LEARNED THAT COURAGE WAS NOT THE ABSENCE OF FEAR, BUT THE TRIUMPH OVER IT… THE BRAVE MAN IS NOT HE WHO DOES NOT FEEL AFRAID, BUT HE WHO CONQUERS THAT FEAR.” – N. MANDELA

So, here’s the start of the new blog, or is it the continuation of unfinished thoughts? Do thoughts even finish..  Either way, i’m happy to be back reflecting on adventures, moving through life, growing as a human.

Quick update:

I had a plan for a few months, after graduating from my Industrial Design Masters, to venture around Europe. In essence the plan came into fruition, however in the least expected way.. I received a beautiful summer of learning, training, new experiences, a special community and memories for a lifetime.

The original plan, of heading into Scandinavia to learn about life with a certain female didn’t happen; I suppose some things are the right thing at the wrong time. Live with your decisions and be like water.

The decisions we make are quite fascinating. Split second reactions based upon emotional impressions, yet they dictate large periods of our lives.

The most recent period of my life, was taken by MOVISION MOVEMENT. A community of movers, of humans and beautiful souls, chasing their dreams of freedom. Based in Berlin, the group is made up of various individuals from a multitude of backgrounds, both ethnically and with regard to sports/fitness. (or lack thereof!)

Anyway, back to the original theme. COURAGE..

An important part of the summers learning was my relationship with fear. Yes, we all have fears and most believe them to be paralysing and rigid. Yet the mind is a beautiful beast. Heights, spiders, social situations; are all real. They all contain the potential to make you sweat, make your pulse run, make YOU run.. yet, slowly but surely the tide will start to turn, if you so enable it.

With the right dosage, the fear starts to seep through the cracks of life. Dripping away with an ever increasing joy, confidence and freedom of being. Of living. Now i’ll admit, doing this alone is tough. Doing most things alone is tough. But with the support of a community or teachings of a mentor, an individual can slowly start to chase away those fears. A vital orientation for a human being.

This is what MOVISION MOVEMENT provided for me, opportunity to grow. Opportunities to confront my fears, never alone. The beautiful part was that not only was I confronting fears, each and every other individual from the collective, were (and still are) confronting fears on a daily basis alongside one another.

Movision created their first ever workshop tour in Germany, the MOVEMENT AWAKENING tour, which was a special period for all of us involved. Touring the country in a van with 8 other guys and girls (plus one little monkey) providing workshops in Hamburg, Cologne, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Munich, Leipzig & Berlin. Each workshop was unique, with up to 70 people in attendance, at the mercy of the elements (due to being outdoors for the entire workshop) and each group bought a different feeling, a different energy.

Each unique experience provided challenge, provided a chance to grow. We knew this. But man, was it scary!

Training is one thing, but having to then put your hours and hours of work into tangible words, your thoughts into actions and your energy into other beings is a tough ask!

But the feeling afterwards was like no other. Closing out at the end of an emotionally draining day, sitting and looking into the smiling eyes of all in attendance was truly special. Those moments are ones i will never forget. They make each fearful thought all worth while. I am thankful. I am eager for more..

Which brings me onto the next fearful thought.. Australia!

I will be moving to Perth, AU next month to continue the journey of learning, to grow with yet another community of humans. I am full of fear. The situation is full of unknowns. If I fail, game over. Luckily, the past summer has put made it a little easier to put these fears on the back burner!

I hope you enjoyed my rambling thoughts. I felt like i needed to put them into words. I will continue to document the journey via irregular posts on here and more regularly of my physical endeavours via Instagram – WBROWN7.
